Parks and Animals

Whiteman Park is located in Western Australia is only 25 minute
drive from the city centre of Perth but is situated in picturesque
bush land covering an area of more than 4200 hectares (over
10,000 acres) with nearly half this classified as high value
conservation bush land or wetland. It has a number of interesting
attractions.

Marapana is 40 minutes South of Perth and is a place where
you can pet the animals.

You are able to hand feed animals at Cohuna which is 35 minutes
from Perth at East Kelmscott.

Armadale Reptile Park has over 200 reptiles and many other
Australian native animals. It is approx 3km south of the main
set of lights in Armadale on the right hand side.

The Cuddly Animal Farm is great for small children in particular.
It is situated in the heart of the picturesque Swan Valley,
only 30 minutes from the Perth C.B.D. at 128 John Street Henley

Perth Zoo is only minutes away from the city centre by car
or ferry at south Perth. It is open every day of the year
and has Australian native and exotic animals. During the summer,
the zoo also hosts lots of events and concerts.
The
Aquarium of Western Australia
This Aquarium, located at Hillary’s Boat Harbour, just twenty
minutes drive north of Perth's city centre, is the largest in
Australia. It has underwater tunnels, giant sharks, rays and turtles,
living coral reefs and playful seals.
Adventure
World
Adventure World is located at Bibra Lake, less than 20 minutes
South of the Perth CBD and 15 minutes East of Fremantle. It is
open daily from September 30 – April 25 during School Holidays,
Thursday to Monday all other days, excluding Christmas Day and
Good Friday. It has lots of rides and activities to appeal to
all ages.
Fremantle
Prison
The Fremantle Prison is one located in the heart of the port city
of Fremantle. The Prison was built by convicts in the 1850s and
was closed as a place of incarceration in 1991 after 136 years
of continuous use. It is open for tours to learn about the convicts
of the past.
Perth
Mint
The Perth Mint has been making gold into coins and jewellery since
the gold rush days of the 1880s. It is still operating. The Perth
Mint is located at the corner of Hay and Hill Streets.
Scitech
and Horizon the Planetarium
Scitech has lots of scientific exhibitions and live theatre demonstrations
which are lots of fun. Horizon - the Planetarium uses the latest
digital technology to give visitors a 360-degree experience of
the solar system and beyond. Live presentations of Perth’s night
sky can be seen, alongside adventures into deep space. Children
must be over 4 years to view shows at Horizon - the Planetarium.
Scitech and Horizon - the Planetarium are located in the City
West complex, on the corner of Railway Parade and Sutherland Street
in West Perth.
Rottnest
Island
Rottnest Island is just a short ferry trip from Perth. It has
beautiful beaches where you can swim, snorkel, surf and windsurf.
You can cycle around the whole island and if you really enjoy
yourself you can even stay on the island.
Spare
Parts Puppet Theatre
This is a lovely way to spend some time and enjoy the drama of
the puppet theatre.
Bonney’s
Waterski Park
Bonney's Waterski Park is about 30 minutes from Perth. It has
five man made lakes, fitted with a jump and World Class Slalom
Courses and can provide tuition. They have all the facilities
for wakeboarding, skiing, knee boarding or tubing . For learning
skiers, they have a Boom (or Training Bar) which comes out the
side of the boat so that the instructor can help the skier learn
to ski in a much quicker time. In almost 15 minutes most people
to can be up and skiing with all the equipment supplied.
The
Western Australian Cricket Association Museum
If you love cricket then you will find exhibits featuring many
of the great names of Western Australia, Australian and International
cricket; Bradman, Lillee, Marsh, Sobers, WG Grace, the list is
endless. Feature display rooms include The International Room,
Sir Donald Bradman Room, Local History Room, The Bat Room, Centenary
of Federation Room and more!
Royal
Lifesaving
The Royal Life Saving Society is Australia's leading aquatic safety
educator. It is a non-profit, community service organisation that
conducts training programs in water safety, lifesaving, resuscitation,
first aid, swimming instructing and lifeguarding. Have lots of
fun and enjoy their website!
Swimming
with the dolphins
Rockingham Dolphins have a daily swim with wild dolphins. You
will cruise out to the sheltered shallows of Rockinghams calm,
clear bays in search of any of the 180 bottlenose dolphins, put
on a mask and snorkel and enjoy the dolphins in their natural
environment.
Golf
Located on the shore of Lake Joondalup are 5 acres of minigolf
gardens. This is a tropical oasis, featuring stunning flower displays,
exotic trees and delightful waterfalls, ponds and meandering streams.
Rock
climbing
Rockface is located in Northbridge and open 7 days a week. You
do not have to have done rock climbing before and it is safe for
ages from 5 years old up.
