Oceanworld
Manly
Take a Ferry. Children love the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly,
where you can go to the beach, have an ice cream, stroll along
the Esplanade, go to the aquarium at Oceanworld Manly. Or take
a bus to North Head for wonderful views. Try returning to Circular
Quay on a JetCat.
Sydney
Aquarium and Darling Harbour
The Sydney Aquarium at Darling Harbour has underwater viewing
tunnels for a close-up view of sharks, stingrays and other fish.
There is also a seal enclosure where you can view the seals swimming
underneath you. The monorail stops right outside and is fun to
go on. Other activities in the Darling Harbour precinct include
the Chinese Gardens, the
IMAX theatre and the
National Maritime Museum.
Koala
Park Sanctuary
Just 30 minutes from the Sydney CBD, with 10 acres of rainforest,
eucalypt groves and native gardens. Koalas, red & grey kangaroos,
dingoes, wombats, echidnas, emus, wallabies and a large collection
of Australian native birds. Private guides and BBQs available.
Powerhouse
Museum
The Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo is a hands-on, family-friendly
museum of technology and culture. Displays are cleverly integrated
with recorded music and voices, to provide a thought-provoking
experience. The specially designed KidSpace areas will intrigue
younger children.
The
Australian Museum
Australia's oldest museum has anthropology and natural history
collections. There are often special exhibits and activities for
youngsters. They have a Kids Island, a fantasy play area, for
the 0-5s. On level two, the permanent child-friendly exhibition
even offers a box of animal costumes to play with! It is divided
into different sections; More than Dinosaurs, Biodiversity and
Human Evolution. There is a ramp where kids run through history
and time, and an interactive Skeletons' Gallery. Do not miss the
Search and Discover room, with microscopes, specimens and CDRoms,
and the glittering Chapman Mineral Collection on level One. The
Museum hosts very popular exhibitions!
The
Australian National Maritime Museum
This museum is a must for all small pirates, sailors and submariners.
The exhibits are educational and exciting, there is a real lighthouse
and the chance to scramble over boats and HMAS Onslow - a submarine
- should not be missed.
Fairfield
City Farm
This 500 acre farm in the western suburbs is a chance to see all
kinds of farm animals, plus native and exotic species. There is
also shearing, milking, and stockwhip demonstrations, giant horses,
an animal nursery and tractor rides. Picnic and BBQ facilities
available.
Taronga
Zoo
Taronga Zoo can be reached by either bus or ferry and has superb
views over Sydney Harbour and a substantial collection of Australian
native fauna. The zoo can be reached by ferry from Wharf 2, Circular
Quay (the journey takes 12 minutes) or by bus from the bus termini
at Wynyard or St Leonards railway stations. There are two government
transport travel passes available - the Zoopass which combines
ferry, bus and zoo admission and is available at Circular Quay
and Zoolink which includes rail, ferry, bus and zoo admission
and is available from suburban railway stations. Open from 9.00
a.m. to 5.00 p.m. every day of the year the displays include echidnas,
dingoes, wombats, kangaroos and wallabies. Australian snakes and
spiders. The koala walkabout and platypus exhibit offer exceptional
opportunities to study these creatures which few Australians have
seen in the wild.

Manly
Oceanworld Manly is right on the water at Manly Cove beach, just
200m from Manly Wharf. Enjoy a ferry or jetcat ride from Circular
Quay, then Oceanworld is just a 2 minute stroll. See sharks, stingrays,
turtles and shoals of fish in the giant oceanarium. Get close
to snakes, baby crocs and a variety of lizards at the reptile
show, and see the world's most venomous snakes and spiders - all
Australians.
Luna
Park
Built in 1935, modeled after Coney Island's Luna Park and set
against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour, this is an energetic amusement
park that features a variety of classic rides. Visitors enter
beneath the ghastly, grinning face of a painted clown, who has
evolved alongside the park's collection of attractions.
Centennial
Park
Rent children's bikes and rollerblades to help youngsters burn
off excess energy in the park's beautiful setting. A nearly Equestrian
Centre offers horseback rides, and guided nature walks are available
during school holidays.
Sydney
Olympic Park
With more than 35km of cycleways, Sydney Olympic Park is the perfect
venue for families Pack the bikes and a picnic and let the kids
roam the park, following one of three circuits or let them ride
on their own adventure tour. And if they don't have bikes, you
can hire them from the Sydney Olympic Park Visitor's Centre or
Bicentennial Park. The Kids in the Park program has dozens of
events to educate, interest and involve your children no matter
what age group.. From junior boot camp to cooking classes to nature
walks to learning the trapeze, there is something for everyone
to enjoy.

Riding
Samarai Park Riding School, is located approximately 30 minutes
north of the Sydney CBD adjacent to the beautiful Ku-Ring-Gai
Chase National Park. Samarai Park caters for all standards of
riders, from absolute beginners to those with years of experience.
All new clients are assessed during a Private Lesson and once
they have gained sufficient experience they may choose to join
a Group Lesson. All horses are matched to the riders ability and
qualified riding instruction is available.
